SIGNS THE CONVENTION ON BUSINESS INTEGRITY

Recognizing
that corruption has a devastating effect on the social and economic development
of the country and being convinced on the need to restore integrity, transparency,
accountability and civility in business life, public and the civil society,
Express Discount Limited (EDL) signs unto the Convention on Business Integrity
on 24th August, 2005.
The
Convention on Business Integrity is a covenant among businesses operating in
Nigeria
to build a private sector coalition against corruption and corrupt practices.
It as a declaration for the maintenance of ethical conduct, competence,
transparency and accountability by private sector operators.
The
convention does not impose any legal obligation but presents a moral contract
among signatories to promote integrity in the conduct of business.
The
management team at EDL believes that at this time when the public and the government
are concerned about corruption, it is auspicious that an alignment be forged
with a body or coalition of business that abhor corruption.
Such
alignment will definitely boost the company’s image and enable the company operate
more efficiently.
The
signing on ceremony which will take place at the Muson Centre would be attended
by invitees form all facets of the business community in Nigeria, International trade missions and the media.
