The Growing Businesses Foundation (GBF) commenced activities in October 1999 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a “vision of sustainable economic development led by socially responsible businesses and individuals” and “a mission to enhance collaboration amongst businesses, non-profit organisations and governments to promote the healthy economic development of communities and channel resources towards projects with sustainable wealth generating potential”.

Inherent in its core objective of investing in the poor lie the values of philanthropy, collaboration, sustainability, stewardship, hope and the principles of social responsibility.

Education

“Education “says Lord Brougham,” makes a people easy to lead, but difficult to drive; easy to govern but impossible to enslave”.

At EDL, we understand that the foundation of empowering the people is education. Thus, we have translated this philosophy into financial support for some schools like the Whitesands School and Lagoon School both in Lagos State.

Sports


Cricket

Part of our corporate philosophy is our burning philantropic desire which we channel to varied facets of the society. Sports is one of them. We have also been able to identify the type of sporting activity that conforms with our corporate values for sponsorship.

In the last five years, EDL has been actively involved in the support (both financially and morally) of the programmes of Nigeria Cricket Association (NCA) and Lagos State Cricket Association (LSCA).

EDL’s corporate values align with the true spirit of cricket and the virtues that the game spreads.

These virtues are "honesty, fair-play, integrity and teamwork”.

Truly, these values form part of the bedrock of our vision.
