CRICKET: OFEM ENDURANCE SCORES A CENTURY
Lagos Island, Lagos – April 16 2004

Kings College Old Boys Cricket Club secured a quarter final ticket last Saturday, April 10, at the on-going Lagos Knock Out Cricket tourney sponsored by Express Discount Limited by taking Federal Government College Warri CC to the cleaners by a 5- wicket victory. In a business manner, at the Unilag Cricket pitch, the Warri team was dismissed for 35 runs in 16.5 overs.
Seye Olympio of KC created the havoc with his 5-wicket haul for 12 runs in 6 overs.

In another match played at the Unilag cricket pitch on Sunday, April 11, Endurance Ofem of Pioneers' unbeaten 113 runs was solid enough to secure a semi-final ticket for his team as they defeated debutant, Indo- Nigeria CC by 128 runs. Pioneers amassed 241 runs for 6 wickets.

Rocks CC of Abeokuta defeated Howzat Dolphins by 2 wickets at the TBS cricket oval to advance to the quarter-final. Dolphins' 151 runs was not big enough target to stop Rocks. Segun Olayinka of Rocks scored a brilliant 54.

Lagos Indians CC defeated Government College Ibadan Old Boys CC by 1 wicket on Monday at the TBS cricket oval to secure a place in the semi- final. GCI was bowled out for 127 runs in 30.2 overs. Naresh's 49 not out gave the Lagos Indians the deserved victory.

Action will resume on Saturday, April 17, as reigning champions Foundation Cricket Club (FCC) will take on Rocks CC of Abeokuta in a quarter-final match at the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval. The winner will meet Lagos Indians CC the following day in the semi-final at the same venue, while Cosmopolitan CC will take on Kings College Old Boys CC at the Unilag pitch in another quarter - final encounter. The winner will advance to the semi-final to play Howzat Pioneers at the same venue on Sunday, April 18.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 25, at the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval, Lagos.

According to the Chairman of Lagos State Cricket Association, Mr. George Wiltshire, the tournament has been satisfactory so far in terms of standard of play. He was delighted to witness, over the weekend, a century (113*) knocked by Endurance Ofem of Howzat Pioneers and the 5-wicket haul by young Seye Olympio of Kings College Old Boys CC. He is looking forward to a competitive final match and calls on cricket enthusiasts to come and enjoy top quality cricket, which the Lagos Knock Out tourney is noted for.
